George Gervin, San Antonio Spurs legend and NBA Hall of Fame member, will join SACU and other dignitaries in celebrating the credit union's 75th anniversary and receive a $7,500 donation for the George Gervin Youth Center, in honor of the credit union's landmark event.
Mayor Julian Castro has proclaimed Sunday, March 7, 2010, as "SACU Day," to honor the credit union's long service and outstanding community contributions through its three-quarters of a century in San Antonio.
During the invitation only event, scheduled for Monday, March 8th at the SACU corporate headquarters on IH 10 West, State Senators Leticia Van de Putte and Jeff Wentworth will present the Texas Treasure Business Award to SACU. The credit union was given the honor by the Senate of the State of Texas, because of its outstanding record of exemplary and continuous service to the same community for 75 years. State Representatives Jose Menendez and Joe Farias will present a State of Texas House Resolution recognizing SACU's landmark anniversary.
San Antonio City Council members Mary Alice Cisneros (Dist. 1), Ray Lopez (Dist. 6) and John Clamp (Dist. 10) will attend as representatives from the city. Chamber of Commerce, other community leaders and business partners will join in to celebrate with SACU staff members, current and former Volunteers and retirees.
