Jeanette Henderson Brings Out the Best at Wilson Elementary

Jeanette Henderson creates an atmosphere of caring for her pre-school students at Wilson Elementary in the San Antonio Independent School District. Many of her students are either physically or cognitively challenged, and her creative approach to teaching them makes all the difference to their world. "Every child regardless of their ability or disability is ready to come to school and learn, and my challenge is to find out how they learn," Henderson states.

Often times, Mrs. Henderson can be heard singing directions to her students, and they magically follow her musical commands. She tailors her method to the needs of each student and does what it takes to reach them. Henderson explains, "These are skills that eventually are going to be a way they make friends and get jobs and become successful in their future lives." Through Mrs. Henderson's kind example, her students discover the joy of learning.
